FOOD SAFETY SUPERVISOR CERTIFICATE IS NOW COMPULSORY

Food Amendment (Food Safety Supervisors) Act 2009 introduces mandatory food handler training to help safeguard NSW consumers from food borne illness.

The new legislation will require certain hospitality and retail food service businesses to appoint at least one trained Food SAFETY supervisor (fss) AND THAT THE OWNER OF THE FOOD BUSINESS ENSURES THAT THERE IS A FOOD SAFETY SUPERVISOR (fss) PRESENT AT ALL TIMES.

COUNTRY HOSPITALITY SERVICES HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE NSW FOOD AUTHORITY TO DELIVER THE REQUIRED COURSES.

To be a qualified Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) the following units of competency need to be completed
SITXOH002A - Follow Workplace hygiene Procedures (Safe Food Handling)
SITXFSA001A - Implement Food Safety Procedures
SIRRFSA001A - Apply Retail Food Safety Practices

Changes to RSA & RCG Laws

A new scheme is being introduced from Monday 22 August 2011. From that date, all registered training organisations (RTOs) that are approved to deliver Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) or Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) courses will be required to use a common online system for recording course and student details.
