FAQ

Q. Why do I need to do a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course?
A.  The NSW Liquor Laws prescribe responsible service of alcohol training for the liquor industry.  Any person involved with the sale, supply & service of alcohol in NSW needs to complete a face to face RSA course that has been approved by the Casino, Liquor & Gaming Control Authority.

Q. Can I use an RSA certificate gained in NSW, in QLD and vice versa?
A. NO.  Each State has different requirements in relation to RSA.  NSW for example, do not recognise RSA certificates from any other state.  To work in the sale, supply & service of alcohol in NSW you must complete a face to face course provided by a training organisation approved to deliver RSA by the NSW Office of Liquor Gaming & Racing.  Online RSA training is not acceptable in NSW.

Q. Do I learn how to serve alcohol (e.g. pull a beer) in the RSA course?
A. NO.  RSA is a theory based course, there is no handling of alcohol during this course.
top
Q. Is this RSA training Nationally accredited?
A. Yes.  RSA (SITHFAB009A) is from the nationally accredited hospitality package.  It is important to note, however, as each State has different liquor licensing laws, that RSA certificates may not be recognised as adequately meeting the licensing requirements of a particular state.

Q. Why do I need to do a Responsible Conduct of Gambling Course (RCG)?
A. It is a requirement of the Gaming Machines Act 2001 for proposed hoteliers, secretary managers and staff who will have gaming machine related functions to have completed the NSW RCG course.

Q. How can I replace a lost certificate?
